In the Pepsi versus Coke big battles, Pepsi has a stronger history when it comes to collaborating with performers and live music events dating back to the global campaign of the 80s and 90s that featured Michael Jackson, Madonna, and the Spice Girls. Coke, on the other hand, has a strong social media pedigree, with a history of innovative and effective social strategies.
Coke in Argentina decided that they needed to increase teen interest in brands, and linked Coca-Cola to music in a way that would spark teen interest and brand commitment. One way to combat these audience loyalty changes is to give them ownership of the brand: teenagers need to feel like they are part of something big.
This Coke campaign was one of three to win an award at the 2010 Media LATAM Festival.
